How it all started
Harbor Church began with a group of eight people fasting and praying about the possibility of a new church in Wichita, Kansas. For five days, they gathered daily to pray together, seek God’s direction, and ask one simple question: What might God want to do?
Shortly after that week of prayer and fasting, a core team began gathering weekly for Launch Team meetings at Nameless Coffee Co. Within six weeks, Harbor Church had outgrown the coffee shop, a team was forming, and it was time to launch.
What started with eight people praying was quickly becoming something much bigger.

The Launch
Leading up to launch, we watched God provide in ways we never could have manufactured. People gave generously, our start-up costs were covered, two brand-new trailers were provided, and volunteers stepped forward to fill every ministry area needed to launch a church.
Then, on September 14, 2025, Harbor Church held its first public worship service at Wilbur Middle School in West Wichita.
For the next year, Wilbur became our home. Every Sunday, an incredible team of volunteers unloaded trailers, set up environments, welcomed families, created spaces for kids, worshiped Jesus, and then packed it all back up again.
But week after week, God kept reminding us that the Church was never the building—the Church was the people.
And He was just getting started.

A Place to Call Home
As Harbor approached its first anniversary, God opened a door we had been praying for: a place to call home.
In the fall of 2026, Harbor Church moved from Wilbur Middle School into our new worship space at 571 S. Tyler Rd., Wichita, KS 67209.
Having a building gives us opportunities we simply didn't have as a portable church—a place to gather throughout the week, invest in the next generation, build community, serve our city, make disciples, develop leaders, and continue reaching people with the Gospel.
But we're not interested in simply filling a building.
We're interested in reaching people.
Our mission remains the same: to be a safe place for people to find and follow Jesus. We believe there are people all across Wichita who are far from God, searching for hope, looking for community, or simply waiting for someone to invite them.
So while we're incredibly grateful for where God has brought us, we believe the best chapters of Harbor's story haven't been written yet.
The building isn't the finish line. It's a launching point.
And we'd love for you to be part of what God does next.
