Babylon had forgotten God, but God had not forgotten Babylon. King Belshazzar threw a lavish banquet, desecrated sacred items from God's temple, and felt completely untouchable behind his massive walls. But the absence of immediate judgment is not proof of God's approval. It is evidence of His patience. While kings rose and fell, Daniel quietly remained faithful for decades, building the kind of character that holds everything together when pressure comes. When the handwriting appeared on the wall, Daniel reminded Belshazzar that he had seen God's warnings and ignored them anyway. We all stand before a God who does not measure us sideways against other people. He measures us against Jesus. The good news is that Jesus, the only One ever weighed and found perfect, stepped in and accepted the guilty verdict on our behalf.
