Learning Lessons The Hard Way
King Nebuchadnezzar stood at the peak of human success, ruling the greatest empire on earth, and yet something was deeply wrong with his heart. He believed he was the source of everything around him, and God gave him every opportunity to recognize the truth before discipline arrived. One of the most dangerous places in life is when everything is working, because success can quietly replace dependence on God without us even noticing. Pride does not make you think less of God. It simply makes you think less about God until He stops entering the equation entirely. God warned Nebuchadnezzar through a dream, through a trusted voice, and through twelve full months of patience before judgment came. When Nebuchadnezzar finally looked up toward heaven, everything changed. Humility is not thinking poorly of yourself. It is thinking rightly about yourself in light of who God is.
