Make Us Generous

Greed is easy to spot in others but nearly impossible to admit in ourselves. The story of Zacchaeus in Luke 19 exposes what greed really does to the human heart and what happens when someone encounters the radical generosity of Jesus. Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector, despised by his own people, wealthy in possessions but bankrupt in belonging. When Jesus stopped beneath his tree and invited Himself to dinner, everything changed. Before that encounter, Zacchaeus had only ever been a taker. Afterward, he became a giver, offering half of everything he owned to the poor and repaying those he had cheated four times over. His generosity did not save him, but it revealed that Jesus had changed his heart. When Jesus truly has your heart, He has everything else too.
